Old Capital Arts and Living History Festival

I am proud to announce our next event! The Old Capital Arts and Living History Festival in Fillmore Utah. It takes place September 5th and 6th.

This is an event that I have participated in for many years. I always have so much fun there and I highly recommend anyone who lives in Utah to come join in the fun!

Pictures taken from the event's website.

They have these great exhibits dedicated to "Living History" that show how pioneers made such things and quilts, candles, and even their houses! There are many booths dedicated to "Living History" where you can watched as craftsmen make their goods.

We will be participating in their craft fair. Their craft fair is very exclusive. All booth must have hand made items. It makes for a great variety of thing that can not be found elsewhere.

I hope to see some of our fans there. If you come be sure to stop by our booth and say hi!

Capes for a Cause

I have spent the last couple of weeks frantically making super hero capes--thinking that I would be needing them for the event that was cancelled. While making them I couldn't help but wonder, who are the super heroes of our day? Of course we have the soldiers, police officers, and fire fighters. But I also thought of other remarkable people. People who fight valiantly everyday, and who face some things that we all fear to face.

So I made some capes for a few of these people who I thought deserve to be recognized as the heroes that they are...

The first one I made is for those brave women out there battling breast cancer. I have know many who have lost their lives to this battle, many who are trying to conquer it still, and many who have won it, for now.

I took the classic breast cancer awareness ribbon and put it inside of a shield applique. It turned out perfect! I believe this cape is great for those of those survivors and fighters out there.

Another group I thought of are those brave children who are struggling with Congenital Heart Defects (CHD). I have a cousin who has been through multiple open heart surgeries battling this foe. He is actually up for another surgery to replace his current pacemaker. (To help his family click here.) I especially wanted to make a cape for him as his surgery approaches, but it was a little harder to do, as there is no official CHD awareness symbol. I improvised.

So I came up with this: A heart with a zipper down the middle inside of a shield.

Both of these capes are reversible, so there could also be the hero's favorite hero logo on the other side.

They are both available on my Etsy page:  Breast Cancer Awareness and CHD Awareness.

If you can think of any other real life super heroes who need capes, let me know in the comments.

Fairy Tale Expo Postponed!

Well the Fairy Tale Expo has been cancelled. We are a little disappointed but the director of the event had some health issues so it has been pushed back to November... That isn't really the best time for selling costumes, but we will give that a try. Sorry to anyone who was planning on going, whether to be a model for us or to participate in the other activities. We also pray for the director that everything goes well and that she will be better soon.

Fairy Tale Expo

**Postponed until November--See details here**

If you have been following our Facebook, you have probably seen us posting about our next event already, but we need to talk about it on here for a bit. Our next big event that is coming up is the Fairy Tale Expo!

This event will be featuring visits from characters (princesses and superheroes from Part of Your World Princess Parties), fashion shows, vendors, crafts, and many other activities for children and adults!

We will be selling our costumes there for anyone who forgot to dress up! Our costumes will also be featured in a fashion show! Be sure to stop by and say hello and participate in all the fun activities that there will be.

We are so excited to be a part of this event and we hope to see many of our fans there. This is a great opportunity to spend time with the family and see what costumes we have to offer this Halloween season! (It's just right around the corner!)

They have drawings for free tickets and private visits from princesses on their facebook page. Be sure to like them!
